Crestview, Florida – October 11, 2023 – In partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation
and Owens Corning, local, Florida roofing contractor, Tadlock Roofing, served as one of
the contractors who donated materials, and services, and welcomed U.S. Army Sergeant
First Class (Ret.) Ian Prescott and his family into their forever home.
This custom smart home was presented to Ian Prescott mortgage-free and includes
accommodating features to help him regain some of his independence, including
specially adapted technology that is custom-made to fit his needs. Ian Prescott was
severely injured in Afghanistan in 2018 and left paralyzed from the waist down.
The Gary Sinise Foundation builds custom homes for severely wounded heroes,
honoring and supporting the families of our fallen, providing essential equipment and
training for first responders, improving the mental wellness of our defenders, and so
much more.
“It was a little kind of star shock,” Ian said. “We were sitting here talking to Gary Sinise,
and he was talking about how awesome it was to be giving us this home. It was a lot
going on, and I know I kept my composure. My wife, I don’t think she made it with dry
eyes, but it was an exciting day.”
With the project breaking ground in February of 2023, Tadlock Roofing and Owens
Corning has been working diligently with the Gary Sinise Foundation to give Ian
Prescott’s new home the dependable, reliable roof it deserves, and are honored to add
to the beautifully completed home.
“Every single person took the time to get to know us to understand our family, and we can’t even express our thanks for that, our gratitude for what they’ve done. We wanted a home built on community and love, and we feel that as soon as we come in the door,” says Ian’s wife, Carrie.
This home build for Prescott in Crestview, Florida marks the 86th that the Gary Sinise
Foundation has had the privilege to provide to a severely wounded hero and Tadlock
Roofing is proud to work with Owens Corning Roofing to work with such an
extraordinary organization.
“It’s a complete honor to give back in the best way we know how to our nation’s most
