Being in business locally since 1980, Tadlock Roofing has seen firsthand the destruction hurricane season can bring to the Tallahassee community and we’re taking part to honor our commitment to helping local residents prepare for the impending storms.
This past weekend Team Tadlock had the privilege to attend the fourth annual ‘Build Your Bucket’ disaster preparedness expo alongside The City of Tallahassee, Leon County Government, the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross and other local area businesses. Over 2,000 attendees lined up to claim their free disaster preparedness buckets filled with critical starter supplies and to learn more about how to best prepare their families for hurricane season. Tadlock Roofing President, Dale Tadlock, pitched in to the effort by donating and handing out 500 tarps to event attendees.
“As a demonstration for how much we care about Tallahassee, we want to be proactive in trying to protect the community in which we live and serve during this 2018 hurricane season. We realize a catastrophic storm could devastate our community and these tarps might get our neighbors by during a time of need.”
Because of events like Build Your Bucket and other disaster resilience efforts, Leon County was designated as the first #HurricaneStrong community in the nation by the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH) in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and others.
If you were unable to make the event, it’s not too late to prepare. The Florida “disaster preparedness” sales tax holiday for essential items such as reusable ice packs, flashlights, gas containers, radios, tarps and generators will continue being tax exempt through Thursday, June 7.
